WhatsApp to Stop Working on Millions of Phones

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, announced it will stop working on 35 older mobile devices using outdated Google and Apple operating systems.

Billions across the globe use WhatsApp and it continues to add new features that make the messaging app useful and popular. But now and then, WhatsApp ends support for older devices that cannot support the new features and get security updates to keep them safe. According to reports, more than 35 devices, both Android and iOS combined will lose support for WhatsApp in the coming weeks.

Whatsapp to Stop Working on 35 Smartphones Soon: Here’s why

WhatsApp has ensured that it regularly changes the minimum system requirements to run the smartphone messaging app. And the recent tweak means that you need an Android phone that can run version 5.0 or higher. Similarly, it would help if you had an iPhone model that can run iOS 12 version or later. So, by any chance, if you still have a phone that can only support the software version below these, it is time to upgrade your smartphone right away, or you lose access to the popular messaging app.

Some of these devices are old, but others have good hardware or can’t be updated. It’s surprising people still use them for WhatsApp.
